Howdy huns!

How have ya been? šŸ’•

If youā€™re celebrating Easter on Sunday (or if ya also just like chocolate)
whatā€™s been your egg pick for this year? Thereā€™s nothing like keeping chocolate eggs wrapped in their shiny foil in the fridge (or freezer if youā€™re like me) and taking them out to have with a cuppa on the sofa šŸ„° x

Iā€™ve been loving looking at all the old nostalgic Easter egg packaging x

Look at this ā€˜bang on the doorā€™ happy egg! Wouldnā€™t ya just kill for this now huns šŸ„¹ x

šŸŒ» Little wholesome tip this week:
This comic from @redgoldsparks is a great reminder that sometimes your mood can be boosted by the most basic things. When Iā€™m feeling awful Iā€™ll have a ā€˜fixingā€™ shower and it helps me to wash away all the bad feelings. I always feel better after a nice long shower! Iā€™d also add to this list ā€˜When you feel uninspired or overwhelmed - go outsideā€™. The best way to free up space in your head is by giving the thoughts space to breathe in nature šŸ„° x

Dear Margie,
I seriously struggle with relaxing on my days off from work. I work 5 days a week so I look forward to the weekend rolling round, but when it does I feel like I NEED to be busy by doing stuff like cleaning round my house or doing other tasks. It's gotten to the point where I've started to feel guilty if I have a lie in or sit down to watch the telly! It's as if I can't switch off ever šŸ« . Any advice? Xx
ā€”
Hey hun,
Iā€™m sorry youā€™re feeling that way šŸ’— Itā€™s defo a very common feeling for a lot of huns. Me neighbour Tricia was only talking about this the other day, but she told me the reason we feel like our self worth is rooted in how productive we are is down to capitalism! Iā€™d never thought about it like that before hun, but it makes sense. When we live in a ā€˜hustleā€™ culture that tells us to work hard to achieve our goals and always be on top of our game - anything we do that isnā€™t deemed ā€œproductiveā€ by those standards feels wrong or has us feeling guilty for not making ā€œbetterā€ use of our time. The thing is though, prioritising productivity over our health and wellbeing isnā€™t girlbossing - itā€™s a one way ticket to burnout šŸ˜„ The feeling that you canā€™t switch off because you should be doing something productive is just a story youā€™re telling yourself - so change the story hun. Getting rest on your days off from work is one of the most productive things you can do - and itā€™s a privilege. Your self worth is not in how productive you are - and you donā€™t have to ā€œearnā€ your rest days. Tell yourself ā€œI had a dead productive day today because I prioritised myself and my mental wellbeingā€ - and be proud of yourself for putting your wellbeing first! Life is all about the little things that make us happy - if thatā€™s a lie in or cosying up on the couch to watch your fave tv programme, then allow yourself these little pleasures without feeling guilty. Youā€™d never look back on your life as an old person and think ā€˜Iā€™m so glad I scrubbed the loo and did 8 loads of washing on my days off instead of just relaxing when I could and prioritising my happinessā€. Some days off you may naturally want to go on a mega cleaning spree - but it doesnā€™t have to be that way all the time. So if you have the opportunity to rest, ignore the ā€˜productivity policeā€™ in your head and enjoy your rest hun! Never feel guilty for just ā€œbeingā€ šŸ„°
Love your mate,
Margie xxx
If you want to submit a question to Dear Margie you can hit reply huns. Make sure you mention your question is for the hunmail - otherwise I wonā€™t assume permission to share it. Iā€™m so sorry I donā€™t have the capacity to get back to everyone at the minutešŸ’“ x

Every week me nan selects a tip from a ā€œreal lifeā€ magazine especially for the huns! This weekā€™s tip:

The surprise of being handed a very heavy card and then finding Ā£4.50 in 25 x 20p pieces stuck inside is dead special indeed hun. He could have bought the best birthday Boots meal deal ever with that and still had 51p in change left over x

Sort Your Life Out with Stacey Solomon
As weā€™re well into spring, I think a lot of us huns will be itching to do some organising and cleaning - so this is the perfect watch for some clutter clearing inspo! Each episode Stacey (who is arguably one of the most successful ex X-Factor contestants without a music career ever) helps a new family clear out their overwhelming clutter by laying out every item they own in a giant warehouse so they can go though it - item by item. She also has a crew with her to help organise, upcycle and clean the familyā€™s home while theyā€™re deciding what to keep, sell or donate in the warehouse. It's a dead wholesome and feel good watch huns! if youā€™re in the UK you can get it on the BBC iPlayer - otherwise YouTube has a good few episodes uploaded onto it for the international huns x

šŸ‘‚ļø Listen to

Believe In Magic
If you loved Scamanda - then youā€™ll love Believe In Magic! A 16 year girl called Megan Bhari and her mother Jean set up a charity by the same name and raise thousands of pounds to help grant the wishes of seriously or terminally ill children in the UK. The charity was mega successful and even had the support of One Direction. Megan herself was sick with a brain tumour and needed specialised treatment from the USA. But as attention on the fundraiser for Megan grew, so did peopleā€™s suspicions. The ending seems like itā€™s obvious, but thereā€™s a twist in this story you wonā€™t be expecting huns - itā€™s well worth a listen. You can get it on Spotify, Apple, the BBC sounds app or wherever you get your podcasts x

For any huns who missed it, I have a Spotify playlist with all of my favourite tracks - perfect for a bop around your room or a cleaning spree šŸ„° Iā€™m always adding new songs too so ya donā€™t get bored x

Margieā€™s Question of the week šŸ’¬

Last week I asked - ā€œWhat was the one toy you really wanted as a kid, but never got, and secretly still want as an adult?ā€ and I agree wholeheartedly with every answer x šŸ’•'

ā€œMr Frosty! I think so many people can relate to this on a deep level! Even if we now know itā€™s crap and nothing like what the ad on tv portrayed if someone were to give me a Mr Frosty now Iā€™d be well pleased lolā€

ā€œOMG I wanted nothing more on this Earth than a Barbie jeep and I never got one šŸ˜ I donā€™t care if I have my own car to drive now, ITā€™S NOT THE SAME!! šŸ˜’ ā€

ā€œI am an 80ā€™s girl (born in 76) and I always wanted a glo worm toy. My mum said I was too old and wouldnā€™t let me have one. Fast forward to 1997 when I had my daughter 3 weeks before Xmas and Iā€™m telling you I RAN to buy her a glo worm for her first Christmas to heal myself! ā¤ļøā€

ā€œYou know those wooden toys made to look like food and those play kitchens huns? And they had like the Velcro so you could cut them up and everything? That made my Christmas and birthday wish lists every year as a kid Huns and I never got them šŸ˜” I see them on tiktok now and tbh I could occupy myself with that for hours xx ā€œ

ā€œA toy that I really wanted when I was younger was this chocolate coin maker. You would mold the chocolate and this plastic machine would wrap some gold tin foil around it. The tv ad made it seem as if you would have an endless supply of these chocolate coins. However recently my niece got one for her birthday and I was helping her with it- turns out you had to buy the chocolate yourself and the machine got stuck quite easily šŸ˜‚šŸ©·xā€

ā€œReally wanted a Stretch Armstrong!! Whenever we got to bring toys into school I used to make a beeline for the boy in my primary class who had itā€

Next weekā€™s question is - ā€œWhat's the most trouble you ever got into at school, and what was your punishment?ā€- Hit reply to this hunmail if youā€™ve got a story to share with the huns! šŸ’“
